You bronies are acting like babies crying over spilled milk. No seriously, you are. You guys are bitching and moaning over a fictional pony from a kids show and you're crying she'll be gone forever. It's just a freaking cartoon guys, calm down. I don't see this happen when a Anime character dies or somethin and fans demand so-said character to come back because they were "epic".
I almost feel sorry for Hasbro now. They try to appeal you bronies by taking a pony with a error and make her an official character but as soon as she speaks, she's labeled as retarded and disabled and magically offends people. I don't have anyone in my family who is autistic but i can guarantee this is making Hasbro go "What the fuck". This is also why Hasbro SHOULD NOT cater to the bronies. Why? Because of shit like this happening. Bronies keep begging for all of these background ponies to have a episode of their very own and have a voice but that won't happen. Seeing this huge drama over a fucking pony, i highly doubt Hasbro will do that. I hope they don't do it because if they do, we're gona see messages like "OMGZ COLGATE SPOKE AND SHE WASN'T DOING WUT SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!!!! OMGZ LYRA AND BON-BON AREN'T LESBIANS AND THEY ACTUALLY IN SEPERATE HOMES BAWWWWW!!!!!" and well, you get the picture. The fans demand these background ponies they named to do things the fans portray them in fanart yet when Hasbro does their own thing, they flip their shit. /rant why Hasbro shouldn't listen to bronies lawlz
Tabitha St. Germain who voices Rarity, Granny Smith, Nightmare Moon, Princess Luna, Photo Finish, Mrs. Cake, and Pound Cake provided Derpy's voice. However, Tabitha didn't even know Derpy was a female and she thought Derpy was a male which is why Derpy sounded the way she was in the show. Here's a email from her why she sounded like a boy that was posted on Reddit.
The character doesn't matter to me as much as the action that was taken.
The fact that she was changed is just what bugs me. Oh, and that those without disabilities are speaking for those who have them when, if you LOOK AROUND, the people who DO have disabilities LOVED Derpy the way she was and is NOW offended by not only her change, but those who are speaking for them. Believing it's possible that the speakers just want to seem like they stand on a higher moral ground than others. I don't care as much about it anymore, really...
I'm just going to miss those adorable derp-tastic eyes of hers.
Have you even heard of the infamous spit in the bucket video? The one where a bunch of Homestuck cosplayers passed around a bucket so person would spit on it. In a public place I believe was a restaurant. It's disgusting.
To respond to your journal, the huge hardcore brony fandom actually LOVED the scene surrounding Derpy Hooves. There was plenty of support for the klutz because the way she acted was pretty much what they theorized her as one. As a newer fan of the show and Derpy myself, I also pictured her as a lovable klutz who seems to create trouble even though she doesn't intend to. There was actually a recorded live chat session after Derpy became a brief foreground character in "The Last Roundup." The chatroom EXPLODED with excitement and delight for her. To the chatroom, her appearance was a complete HIT. The character has a massive amount of support today.
The people who took offense to Derpy's depiction wasn't as frequent or widespread; it was a minority. In reality, most of the fanbase loves her, and they LOVED her appearance. I, too, loved it and personally would love to see her have a bigger role because of all the potential she has as a character. She has flaws, and the huge die-hard fanbase appreciates her as such.
There's a video that actually explains the Derpy drama quite well, and the user gives us insight on it all: [link]
I've seen that video earlier today and faved it. I know many people loved her but i don't understand why the minority is taking offense to it so damn much. It's just a cartoon character from a kids show, it's not like she appeared on Family Guy or South Park and offended a bunch of people.
1. The name "derp," which is misconceived to mean "mentally handicapped." It really means clumsy or silly.
2. A misconception as Derpy's actions being a mockery of the mentally handicapped, which was nothing but a tribute to the passionate brony crowd.
I can understand the worries, like I wrote in a long critique to Yamino (who, BTW, didn't instigate the supposed name change) here: [link]
P.S.: The reason for the temporary name change is likely due to copyright concerns surrounding selling the word "Derpy." On a clothing website called WeLoveFine, most of the Derpy merchandise was changed to Ditzy Dizzy, Ditzy Doo, or nothing at all. Now the name Derpy has returned on most of the products.

Wow.....just....wow. Now the MLP: FiM and the brony fanbase is way way worse than the sonic fanbase. Yes people. It's THAT bad. And I definitely noticed how the FiM and the brony fanbase were acting up since season two started.
honestly, I absolutely adored derpy's scene. the FiM team has no reason to cater to the adult fans but they choose to anyway. if the haters are getting all butthurt because they think FiM is going to cater only to the adult fans, when "they should focus on the 3 year olds they intended for" then tough, if thats the route they want to go, then let them go that route. the haters and the fans both DO NOT HAVE A SAY IN THE MATTER. they dont have to cater to us, nor do they have to listen to us, but if they choose to acknowledge us, thats their decision. nobody expected derpy to talk, and we should all be thankful that she was not only addressed with the name we the fans gave her, but also got to have lines of her own. they didnt have to, be grateful that they did and shut up about it. I feel people are just being butthurt without looking into the truth and believeing they're entirely right on the whole situation without listening to reason. if you are saying derp is offennsive, please get off the internet and stay out. her entire name is derived on the origional meaning of derp. a mistake that should have been rectified but comically wasnt (intentional or unintentional). it is not a word for mentally handicapped. and it shouldnt be treated as such. I have seen so many comments on videos of her scene on youtube pretty much stating "I have a manetal disability, and I did not find derpy's voice offensive" but everyone who "knows" a mentally disabled person feels offended? why? why is that?
I dont want to live on this planet anymore. please take over pony overlords.
I'm really neutral in all this but I just wanted to say what came to mind:
Yeah, and you know, if she was named Ditzy on tv the Bronies would of been pissed then and the parents and social groups probably wouldn't have cared so much. I think they are protesting on something they don't fully understand, with her lazy eyes and her speech and klutzyness. She's just accident prone not a retard. She's a character that would of brought up alot of good lessons if given the chance. Although saying Derpy on tv just sounded so forced and not natural in the show. It was a nice surprise to see her and all but geez this is getting out of hand. Also, they could of picked a different voice actress or told her to voice her differently. I mean they did this to thank the bronies, which is a main group of fans that made the show become more noticed, and they probably made more a profit then they expected since, as we all know, it wasn't aimed towards them. I would think Hasbro would of had a say before that ep aired in the first place y'know? I thought these people knew who Derpy truly was, and they could of thought of the cons ahead of time. Now they all need to pick up the pieces.
One more thing, if she didn't talk the way she was, or look the way she did, but was still a klutz, people would of seen her as just that and not a retard. People can be insensitive and think of the worse in things cause they wanna bitch about it. People can always turn the tv off, or walk away. Everyone is to blame. The social groups and parents for taking offense, and the bronies for overreacting like little bitches.
"God, now i see why MLP is hated so damn much compared to Homestuck. I don't see this shit happening in Homestuck... yet. Even if it did, i'll still love Homestuck! <33"
You're lucky you haven't seen any drama with Homestuck. I see way too many stories about how Homestuck fans act rude. I remember some guy saying he didn't like Homestuck on dA only to be pounded with fans talking like the trolls just to bother him. Even my girl friend constantly talks to me like Terezi. It's cute for a while but gets really annoying. She even texts me like a troll character.
You know what this reminds me of? Axl Rose of Guns n' Roses once said he hated when people would leek his LPs of songs, because people would then listen to the LP (or in this case, the 'cute sounding Derpy') and they would get attached to that version of the song.
But when the actual song comes out (or in this case, Derpy's canon voice), the fans blow their top because "IT'S NOT WHAT THEY EXPECTED, BAAAAAAAAAAAAW!"
The fact that they'e trying to even LABEL "Derpy" as mentally disabled is FUCKING ABLEIST. What, someone who's CLUMSY just HAS to have a mental handicap? What a bunch of assholes. Seriously, dude.
But the bronies at the same time (In my opinion) are to blame. They're like little kids who begged for something for so long from seeing it (In this case, Derpy), they got what they want and don't like it after seeing, playing or listening to it for awhile (Hearing Derpy speak for the first time and it's not what they wanted).
It's the equivalent of a mom getting their kid a cake because they were good and the child complaining that it's not their birthday, that they hate chocolate cake, and then smashing that cake on the floor.
